About Me

Hello. I'm Anj and I'm a mum of one lovely 8 year old boy. I am also the wife of a lovely man who has been my husband for just over 10 years. I was born in the UK, lived in Canada for 15 years and now I'm back in the UK.

You are probably wondering why on earth do we need another food blog and the answer to that is...you don't really!  This blog is really for me to keep a track of my kitchen exploits and also to start using some of the many cookbooks that I own.  I usually like to loosely follow recipes but I am going to make more of an effort to actually follow the recipes properly and then make my own adjustments if necessary. I also want to encourage you to cook because it's not that hard and it can be quite fun if you let it.

I don't claim to be an expert in food, I just love it.  I know what I like and what I don't like.  I tend not to get sucked into food trends although I like to know what they are. I don't see what the fuss is about broad beans and I love the fact that samphire is sold for ridiculous prices when we used to pick it from Skegness beach when I was a kid (now that's pretentious food!). My mum and many other Indian mums used to make what I can only describe as Indian dumplings with it.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading about my unpretentious food and I look forward to having unpretentious conversations about it.

P.S.  I hate being called a 'Foodie'

Update - 1st October 2015
